Choosing a Real Estate Agent

In the past home buyers generally did not retain the services of a real estate
agent
. The seller hired a listing agent, and the buyer rarely hired a real
estate agent.
Typically buyers called the listing agent and had them write
the an offer(this is know in disclosed limited agency or dual agency) or may
have used many agents to help them find a home. In todays market most
buyers secure a buyers agent, who have a fiduciary responsibility to them,
just as the listing agent has a fiduciary duty to the seller. Selecting the right
buyers agent to represent you during the purchase of a home or raw land is
critical.

Buying
real estate  involves making many important financial decisions,
understanding complex issues and completing a lot of paperwork. It helps to
have an expert on your side. I would be thrilled to represent you and to
assist you in buying your new home. I can guide you through the process
and give you access to property listings throughout the
Portland, Oregon
metropolitan area. Whether you choose me as your
real estate agent or
someone else, consider the following factors in your selection process:

Select the
real estate agent you will be working with in the beginning of the
home buying process. Frequently buyers will make an offer on a property
using the listing agent who has been hired by the home owners to sell their
property. In these situations the
agent who has listed property is obligated
by law to represent both parties equally and while most
agents attempt to
do this, it's difficult for any
real estate agent to not have some sense of
loyalty to the seller with whom they've detailed their strategy to sell the
property for the highest price possible and with the most favorable terms for
the seller.

Work With Full-Time
Real Estate Agents Only. Look for a FULL-TIME real
estate agent
who has experience completing transactions similar to yours.
Buying your home is too important to leave it in the hands of an agent who
is not focused on the
Portland, Oregon area real estate market full time and
who is not available to you as and when you need them. Choose an agent
who has made
real estate their career, and not a part-time job or side
hobby. Ask for a list of references.
